CASE STUDY

RetNet - Migration and Redevelopment

The Opportunity

RetNet, the world's leading genetic eye disease repository, engaged Sida4 to modernise its 1990s-era Visual Basic application — migrating from fragile, single-server on-premise infrastructure to a modern, cloud hosted solution.

The opportunity was to migrate and redevelop the legacy web-based application to a modern .NET stack, PostgreSQL database, and AWS cloud hosting.

Our Approach

The DataSide Platform significantly accelerated AWS infrastructure and database provisioning, ensuring the reengineered codebase, enhanced reporting, and backup automation were all tested and deployed with confidence before cut-over.

Project Outcomes

The redevelopment resolved legacy shortcomings while delivering improved administration, enhanced cataloguing capabilities, and streamlined uploading of new scientific findings.
